The findings indicate that language learners have generally positive attitudes toward using computers in the classroom. Less is known, however, about the more specific areas of computers in language testing. The purpose of this article is to examine recent developments in language testing that directly involve computer use. After a brief overview of computer-based testing (CBT) in general, web-based testing (WBT) is defined and certain issues reviewed.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Global PHD connect: Abstracts(Debreceni Egyetem Gazdaságtudományi Kar, 2025) Nábrádi, András; Wiwczaroski, Troy B.; Nagy,-Tóth Boglárka; Fróna, Dániel; Pergéné, Szabó Enikő ErzsébetTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Is It Worth Being Socially Responsible?(2016) Csapóné Riskó, Tünde; Péntek, Ádám; Wiwczaroski, Troy B.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető The Misunderstood Role of Foreign Language Departments as Integrators of Knowledge Across Disciplines(2002-09-05) Wiwczaroski, Troy B.Special purpose language courses have always pushed the boundaries that set them apart from, for instance, courses offered in a business department. When we as foreign language teachers enter the special purpose language classroom and begin to explore such areas as ecology, agriculture, biology, mathematics or even law, we inevitably have had to immerse ourselves in those disciplines, in order to be effective. Foreign language departments, like those from any other field of academia, are continually developing courses with cross-disciplinary topics which challenge the competence of our staffs. However, my experience tells me that our ability as language teachers to integrate knowledge from across the disciplinary spectrum is misunderstood, mistrusted and under-exploited. This article explores this unused, and sometimes undiscovered, potential.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Public Work - an International Outlook(2018-12-13) Cseh-Papp, Imola; Wiwczaroski, Troy B.; Csapóné Riskó, TündeLabour market policy includes active and passive labour market programmes, aiming to solve different problems. Active labour market programmes assist the unemployed to find jobs and thus return to the labour market. Passive labour market programmes assist the unemployed by providing various kinds of aid, easing social tensions. Public work can be considered to be an active labour market programme, assisting people who receive social care with income based on public beneficial work. Consequently, public work is justified by some on the basis that it is purported to have some kind of moral foundation, as well as because it supposedly shows results within a short time. Yet, the rationale behind using public work programmes to fight unemployment is contested. Detractors see them as being rather costly, questioning their success and arguing that their overall results are uncertain, especially in the long run. In short, there are in fact pros and cons to using public work, with opinions being rather divisive. This study summarises these pros and cons, analysing the relevant international and Hungarian literatures in the context of active labour market programmes. In doing so, he points to gaps, both in curricula and in student knowledge, which first need to be addressed, in order to ensure institutions meet successful educational goals.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető The application of knowledge acquired outside the school system in the framework of higher education(2012) Móré, Marianna; Wiwczaroski, Troy B.; Szabados, GyörgyTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető The Misunderstood Role of Foreign Language Departments as Integrators of Knowledge Across Disciplines(2002) Wiwczaroski, Troy B.
