In this thesis I will make the argument that the power of Bridget Jones’s diary is in the splendid and brilliant manifestation of postfeminist anxieties. Helen Fielding has wonderfully recognized the confusion of women in the postfeminist era, and has made use of it to pinpoint the discrepancies. She does it with a brilliant humour, so the readers love to read Bridget, because it gives them relief from these anxieties in an easy-going way.
