The dissertation aims to evaluate whether the Pre-Intermmediate volume of the Matrix coursebook series is appropriate to be used in secondary school English language teaching, whether the selected material and the ways it is presented are sufficient and effective enough to prepare learners for language examinations, whether it meets the requirements of the recent approaches concerning the achievement of communicative competence.
