The reaction between isocyanates and alcohols giving urethane and its application to polyfunctional isocyanates and alcohols, form the basics of the polyurethane industry. The study of the kinetics, mechanism and catalysis of these reactions are therefore very important. These studies are important because results obtained from these type of research gives us a better understanding and control of the industrial processes.
