In the course of my investigation first I will attempt to establish an analogy between the traits of both palimpsestic confinement and insanity and the Fornesian use of female mental illness and enclosure. I will then compare the motif of violence as used in feminist plays and in the four chosen plays. I will finish by discussing the non-feminist pessimistic endings of the selected dramas and their purpose from a feminist perspective.43enpalimpsestic insanityconfinementmale violenceMaria Irene Fornes's Special Brand of Feminism in Fefu and Her Friends, Sarita, The Conduct of Life, and MuddiplomamunkaDEENK Témalista::Irodalomtudomány::Összehasonlító irodalomtudományip
