In the first part, the role of grammar in communicative competence, grammar testing task types, the qualities of good grammar tests are presented. The designing of tests will be introduced with a view to measuring second language grammatical ability. The purpose of this section is to show the basic principles of grammar testing in the foreign language classroom.
