A certain amount of the population is unable to undergo regular dental treatment under the modality of local anaesthesia, due to many factors, including, extreme dental phobia, allergies to local anaesthesia, an extensive surgical procedure that cannot be completed under normal circumstances, and patients that are unable to cooperate due to age, or physical, medical, or psychological conditions. Patients with certain conditions that impede cooperation and make regular dental treatment impossible to fulfil are of specific interest as they have a significantly high prevalence of poor oral hygiene, with an increased rate of caries and periodontal disease. The use of GA in dentistry for these patients is imperative, as this modality does not require any cooperation from them and it is their only chance to receive the appropriate dental treatment that they need. GA provides the dentist with the ability to perform full mouth rehabilitation on these patients; this consists of periodontal, restorative, and conservative treatment, oral surgery, and also prosthodontics. Although treatment under GA and can have many complications and adverse effects on patients, especially those with underlying factors, with the help of his/ her compulsory multi-personnel team, the practitioner can minimize these complications by completing a rigorous preoperative period examination and preparation, fulfilling the intraoperative requirements accurately and lastly ensuring postoperative, monitoring, examination, and adequate recovery of the patient. With this, patients can expect to be managed safely and effectively, resulting in a successful treatment.50enDentistryDental treatmentGeneral anaesthesiaDental Treatment in General AnaesthesiaDEENK Témalista::Orvostudomány::Fogorvostudomány
