In addition to studies on oligosaccharides for vaccine applications, monosaccharide mimetics are being synthesized as potential drug candidates in medicinal chemistry. This study is of practical significance because it paves the way for developing new antibiotics and anti-cancer molecules that can overcome resistance to existing drugs. This thesis describes the synthesis of several novel compounds, including nucleotide-type compounds and several half-sandwich metal complexes.
