We could say that conveying messages through channels other than verbal – that is, speech or writing – forms the domain of nonverbal signals. These obviously include expressions of the face, eye movement, the way we gesticulate with our hands, or even vocal cues. These signals are there in everyday communication all the time but most people are not aware of their significance, perhaps not even their presence, yet they send and receive such messages constantly and efficiently.
