In a Parkinson's patient, dopamine which is an important neurotransmitter responsible for movement among other things, is depleted. Therapy therefore is mainly based on replacing dopamine, relieving symptoms and improving functioning status. Some dopaminergic drugs available for treatment include Levodopa, Dopamine agonists, MAO-B inhibitors, Amantadine, and COMT inhibitors. Some surgical options are also available. Unfortunately, there is still no definite cure for Parkinson's disease.31enParkinsonAntiparkinsonLevodopaPharmacology of antiparkinson drugsDEENK Témalista::Orvostudomány::Farmakológia
