Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), is autoimmune chronic disease characterized by insulin deficiency due to pancrea1c β-cell loss which leads to hyperglycemia. Onset is usually during childhood or adolescence. A cure is not available although, T1DM can be controlled with lifestyle adjustments and medical treatments.
