Helen Dunmore is special among them. Her art is a milestone in this field because her works are not only theoretical approaches and angry outbursts. She experienced the identity crisis and overrode it. Her poems and novels introduce the possible causes of identity loss. She also offers some solutions, which are worth considering to find the way out of the chaotic identity struggle. In the following chapters I would like to introduce her ‘recipe’ of self-recovery, which is like a puzzle. Lost women have to put together the pieces of a broken mirror in order to glimpse their real faces in it. This is not an easy and fast process, which turns out from the fact that Helen Dunmore was around forty when she managed to discover her own face (D. Rácz 200-201). It is an exciting and thought-provoking experience to accept her ‘invitation’ and join her in the following ‘journey’ of self-recovery, where everyone can find answers to the questions mentioned in the first paragraph.56enfemale identityfemale bodyBritish literatureRecovering the Female Body and Self in Helen Dunmore's WorksdiplomamunkaDEENK Témalista::Irodalomtudományip
