Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Air temperature and precipitation evolution in the area of KeszthelyNémeth-Koczó, Johanna; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóIn this brief study some local signs of global climate modification are presented based on the statistical analysis of long-term air temperature and precipitation data for Keszthely (Hungary). In the Agrometeorological Research Station in Keszthely continuous meteorological measurements have been recorded since 1871, therefore an adequate length of data is available for analysis. Based on our results, a significant warming tendency is dominant, an increasing trend in air temperature can be established especially from the 1980s. Over the 116-year study period, statistically significant increase of 0.1°C per decade was found with 9.94±0.77°C annual average. Regarding to rainfall a downward trend of 47 mm per 100 years was observed.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Akác (Robinia pseudoacacia) avar lebontási ütemének vizsgálata agrárerdőbenSimon, Brigitta; Harta, István; Simon, Szabina; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóFontos a természetben történő tápanyag-ciklusok megértése, melynek szerves részét képezi a szárazföldön történő avarlebontás is. Kutatásunk során avarzsákos módszerrel vizsgáltuk a bioműanyag hulladékgyűjtő zsákok lebomlási ütemét a Keszthelyi-öbölben. A kísérlet 2018. március 29. Eredményeink azt mutatják, hogy a vízbe helyezett minták tömegcsökkenése gyorsabban zajlott, mint a szárazföldön, felezési idejük mégis több év.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Climate change and agriculture sector in Egypt: effects and adaptationIrhayyim, Tareq; Rawash, Mohamed Ali; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóThe review aims to present an overview of the effects of climate change and the adaptation strategies to mitigate its impacts on the agriculture sector in Egypt. The main changes in the Egyptian climate would be an increase in temperature, evapotranspiration and sea level. Simulation studies show that reduce production, increase water demands of crops and lose agricultural lands are likely to be the main impacts of climate change on the Egyptian agriculture sector. The effects of climate change on aquaculture can be on natural resources that are necessary for aquaculture productions such as water availability, land, feed, seed, and energy inputs. However, different adaptation options involve that improving the technical water application efficiency and water conservation, as well as selection and breeding tolerant crops to heat, salinity and water use efficiency. Changing the time of sowing and management practices, encouraging farmers to adopt crops that high return with less water use and developing new crop models can consider other agricultural options for adapting climate change. The government should take extreme efforts to enhance the productivity of the agriculture sector and mitigate the risks of climate change impacts.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Comparison of leaf area of soybean under unlimited watering and rain-fed conditionSimon, Brigitta; Soós, Gábor; Kucserka, Tamás; Németh-Koczó, Johanna; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóDifferent methods have been used to measure leaf area of soybean (Glycine max L.).In this study, high resolution photos of soybean leaves were processed using a histogram-based threshold method. Leaf area was measured for soybean in the growing season of 2018 at the Agrometeorological Research Station, Keszthely, Hungary, in evapotranspirometers (unlimited watering) and on the field with natural water supply (rain-fed plots). The experiment was carried out with two varieties (Sinara and Sigalia). During the investigation period leaf area was measured weekly. The results showed that there was no significant difference in leaf area between the two varieties. Optimum water supply for Sigalia resulted in significantly higher leaf area compared to natural water supply.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Decomposition dynamics of aquatic macrophytes in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton WetlandSimon, Szabina; Simon, Brigitta; Anda, Angéla; Kucserka, Tamás; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóDecomposition of aquatic macrophytes in water influences metabolic processes, so its investigation has a major priority. In an experiment at Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland between 22 September 2017 to and 17 November 2017, the decomposition rates of Myriophyllum spitatum and Ceratophyllum demersum were investigated with the commonly used litter bag technique in water. We used two mesh size of litter bags (large - ø = 3 mm and small - ø = 900 μm). The aquatic macrophytes were classified to the fast decomposition category in Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Decomposition dynamics of Phragmites australis leaves, stalks and rhizomes in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton WetlandSimon, Brigitta; Simon, Szabina; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóThe decomposition of plant litter is an important mechanism in regard to energy and nutrient dynamics of ecosystems. The decomposition dynamics of three plant parts of Phragmites australis (leaves, stalks and rhizomes) and the changes of total nitrogen and phosphorous concentrations were examined in Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland for 230 days. The commonly applied litter bag technique was used, with two mesh sizes (litter bag mesh sizes ø = 3 mm; and plankton net bag mesh sizes ø = 900 μm). Leaf litter mass loss generally did not differ between the two mesh sizes and the study sites. The highest decomposition rates were observed at rhizomes (k=0.0051) and the slowest at stalks (k=0.0004). At the end of the investigation period, the remaining nutrient concentration was different in the three plant parts of P. australis. Nitrogen and phosphorous at the stalks in Lake Balaton was higher compared to the initial concentration. In the case of the leaves and rhizomes a decrease was observed.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Decomposition dynamics of willow and poplar leaf litter in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland SystemSimon, Brigitta; Simon, Szabina; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóDecomposition of plant litter in water influences metabolic processes, so its investigation has a major priority. In Hungary at the banks of lakes and rivers, Salix and Populus trees are the most common species, which contribute to the growth of nutrient load in the water. In an experiment at Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland System between 16 November 2017 to and 3 June 2018, the decomposition rates of willow (Salix sp.) and poplar (Populus sp.) leaves were investigated with the commonly used litterbag technique in water. Total nitrogen and phosphorus content of biomass samples were measured at the beginning and end of the experiment. The decomposition rates were classified to the medium decomposition category in the large mesh size for willow and the leaves in the Lake Balaton, while other devices have slow decomposition rates. In the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland System a significant decrease of total phosphorus content was determined in plant samples. But the total nitrogen content increased at both sample sites in both plant species. The publication is supported by the EFOP-3.6.3-VEKOP-16-2017-00008 project. Leaf litter decomposition is usually studied under natural circumstances or in the laboratory, but not in class "A" evaporation pans. This new, pioneer method was chosen to investigate decomposition rate and evaporation together. An experiment was carried out to study leaf litter decomposition in class „A” evaporation pans. Litterbags were filled with leaves of two species (Salix and Populus) and placed into the water. The aim of the study was to determine the decomposition rates of leaves and daily evaporation. Decay curves were well characterized by the exponential decay model. There was no significant difference between the decomposition rates of leaf litter bags and plankton net bags. Exponential decay coefficients of the leaves were in the fast and medium category. Evaporation of the control pan correlated to air temperature better, than leaf litter pans. Ep of leaf litter pans was higher, than control pans. The average values of the water chemical variables corresponded to similar values in the Carpathian Basin. Four modern winter wheat varieties (‘Mv Toborzó’ (TOB), ‘Mv Mambó’ (MAM), ‘Mv Karizma’ (KAR), ‘Mv Pálma’ (PAL)) and one old Hungarian winter wheat cultivar (‘Bánkúti 1201’ (BKT)) were tested. Apart from the control treatment (C), the plants were exposed to two different abiotic stresses. To simulate waterlogging (WL), plants were flooded at four leaf stage, while in the WL + D treatment, they were stressed both by waterlogging and by simulated drought stress at the early stage of plant development and at the heading stage, respectively. The waterlogging treatment resulted in a significant decrease in plant biomass (BKT, TOB), number of spikes (TOB), grain yield (BKT, TOB), water use (BTK) and water-use efficiency (TOB, MAM, PAL) compared to the controls. The combined treatment (WL + D) led to a significant decrease in plant height (BTK, MAM, KAR), number of spikes (BTK, TOB, MAM, KAR), thousand kernel weight (TOB), harvest index (BTK), biomass, grain yield, water-use efficiency (in all varieties) and water use (BKT, TOB, MAM, KAR) of the plants. The best water-use efficiency was observed for MAM; therefore, this genotype could be recommended for cultivation at stress prone areas. The varieties MAM, KAR and PAL also showed good adaptability.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Examination of nutrient leaching dynamics of Solidago virgaurea in Hévíz Lake and Hévíz canalSimon, Szabina; Simon, Brigitta; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóThe different nitrogen and phosphorus elements are prime constituents of the ecosystem and can exert a major effect on aquatic species and the overall ecological cycle. During our investigation we examined the nutrient leaching dynamics in decomposing leaf litter (stem and leaf blades) of Solidago virgaurea. We chose four different sampling sites during the winter period with different water temperatures in the Hévíz Lake and Hévíz canal. The bottles containing the plant material and water were incubated at natural temperatures and the fluid was removed at particular times. Water parameters such as pH level, conductivity, nutrients (ammonium and phosphates) were measured. In the case of Solidago leaf, we obtained higher values for all parameters compared to the stem ones.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Fűz és nyár avar lebontási ütemének vizsgálata a Balaton Keszthelyi-öbölbenSimon, Szabina; Simon, Brigitta; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóAz avarlebontás egy központi folyamat, mely hatással van az ökoszisztéma egészére, így vizsgálata kiemelkedő fontosságú. Magyarországon a tavak és folyók partján a leggyakoribb fás szárú fajok a fűz (Salix sp.) és a nyár (Populus sp.), amelyek az őszi avarhullást követően a víztestbe kerülve hozzájárulnak a víztest tápanyagterhelésének növekedéséhez. A Balaton Keszthelyi-öblében 2019. december 9. Mivel a kioldódás jelentős hőmérsékletfüggést mutat, ezért in situ mértük a két víztest vízhőmérsékletét is a kihelyezett minták közelében. Ehhez elengedhetetlen a hidrológiai körfolyamat alapos ismerete, melynek fő kiadási tagja a párolgás. Emellett vizsgáltuk a különböző meteorológiai elemek (hőmérséklet, légnedvesség) párolgásra gyakorolt hatását is. A” kád párolgását.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Investigation of Salix alba and Populus tremula leaf litter decomposition in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton WetlandSimon, Brigitta; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóPlant litter decomposition in inland waters contributes significantly to nutrient load, particularly in still waters, such as shallow lakes and wetlands. The decomposition rates of Salix alba and Populus tremula leaf litter was examined in Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland, using litter bag technique. Leaf litter was incubated in small (ᴓ=3 mm) and large (ᴓ=900 μm) mesh size bags for the assessment of the relative contribution of macroinvertebrates to leaf litter decomposition. Dry mass, exponential decay coefficient and chemical parameters of water (pH, conductivity, NH4 +, NO3 -, SO4 2-, PO4 3-, Cl-) were determined. Leaf mass loss showed negative exponential pattern during the 168 days of the decomposition period. Leaf litter mass loss generally did not differ between the small and large mesh sizes, suggesting that macroinvertebrates generally have a negligible role in leaf decomposition in the winter period.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Investigation of the decomposition and leaching dynamics of Salix, Populusand mixed leaves in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton WetlandSimon, Brigitta; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóIn lakes and wetlands, leaf litter input from the coastal vegetation represents a major nutrient load and plays a basic structural and functional role in several ecosystems. In an experiment in Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland between 16 November 2017 to and 3 June 2018, the decomposition rates and leaching dynamics of Salix, Populus and mixed leaves (50% Salix and 50% Populus) were investigated. Total nitrogen and phosphorus content of biomass samples were measured at the beginning and end of the experiment for the leaching dynamics experiment. We found that litter mass losses (Salix, Populus and mixed leaves) were not significantly different between the two mesh size litterbags and between Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland. Different amounts of the total nitrogen and phosphorus leaching from Salix, Populus and mixed leaves were detected. The total nitrogen contents of the plant samples were around 8-18% at the end of the investigated period. Slightly higher values were measured compared to phosphorous (27-29%).Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Investigation of the leaching dynamics of the dominant macrophyte (Phragmites australis) in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland SystemSimon, Brigitta; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóWater quality of Lake Balaton has improved significantly in recent years due to Kis-Balaton Wetland System. Many papers deal with the water purification effect of the macrophytes, but decomposing materials have an enormous nutrient load to aquatic environments. This study deals with the dissolution of different parts (leaves, stalks and rhizomes) of the reed (Phragmites australis) in water. An experiment was set up between 16 November 2017 and 23 April 2018 in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton Wetland System. The release of total nitrogen and total phosphorus in different plant parts were monitored. Our results show that the rate of leaching was the highest in the first two weeks for both nitrogen and phosphorus. Different amounts of nitrogen and total phosphorus leaching from different plant parts were detected. The total phosphorus contents of the plant parts were around 0.1- 10% at the end of the investigated period. Higher values were measured (leaf 54.4-51.3%, stalk 78.9.81.4%, rhizome 55.4-66.0%), compared to nitrogen. According to our results there was no significant difference between the two sampling sites. Emellett a két avarfajtát nem csak külön-külön, hanem kevert állapotban vizsgáltuk.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Investigation of willow, poplar and mixed leaf litter decomposition in the area of Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton WetlandSimon, Brigitta; Kucserka, Tamás; Anda, Angéla; PhD hallgató; egyetemi oktató, kutatóAz avarbomlás egy alapvető ökoszisztéma-folyamat, amely hatással van az anyagciklusra, azaz a szénre, a nitrogénre, a foszforra stb. It is widespread across Europe and Hungary in wet areas as well as weed in arable lands. Reed is the dominant species of reedy areas of still water, which - besides its ecological significance - also has water-cleaning action. During our examinations, we took measurements in a naturally reedy area situated in the Ingói-berek of Kis-Balaton Wetland, where the reed stand was composed of two sub-stands depending on water supplementation. We regularly took measurements of the following attributes: plant height, leaf area and calculated the leaf area index thereafter. The goal of our experiment was to detect differences in plant height and LAI values of the two reed stands with different water supplementations. To calculate the LAI it was necessery to perform stem counting on reed living in the water as well as on reed living on the bank.
