Az iskolai tehetségfejlesztés pszichológiai háttértényezőinek vizsgálata felső tagozatos korban

Absztrakt

Magyarországon az iskolai tehetségfejlesztés az 1980-as évek 2. felétől indult jelentős fejlődésnek. Az 1980-as évek végétől terjedtek el hazánkban a relatíve homogén csoportok, más néven „válogatott” osztályok, abból a célból, hogy elősegítsék a tehetségesnek látszó gyerekek képességeinek és személyiségjegyeinek minél magasabb szintre emelését, fejlődését azáltal, hogy az iskolai munkán kívül speciális keretekben is foglalkoznak velük. A „válogatott” osztályok tehetséggondozó munkájából fakadó problémákat orvosolandó, az ezredfordulótól kezdve nemcsak a pedagógiai szakirodalomban, hanem az iskolai gyakorlatban is elterjedt az a nézet, hogy természetes szervezeti formában, véletlenszerű heterogén csoportokban, úgynevezett „normál” osztályokban maradjon a tehetséges gyerek is a fejlesztő munka során. A gyakorlatban azonban gyakran megkérdőjelezik a „normál” osztályokban folyó tehetségnevelés hatékonyságát. A vizsgálatban résztvevők száma a 2. méréskor 299 főre, míg a 3. mérés alkalmával 211 főre csökkent. Az elemzéseknél a „normál” osztályokat tekintve végül 189 fő maradt. A „válogatott” osztályokban 394, 351 illetve 420 tanuló vett részt a vizsgálatokban. ábra) - minden bizonnyal a magasabb szintű indulásnak is köszönhetően. Mind a „normál”, mind a „válogatott” osztályokban az idő előrehaladtával csökken a különbség a tanulók általános intellektuális képességeiben a jók és a gyengébbek között. A két nem általános intellektuális képességei hasonló fejlődést mutattak a két osztálytípusban. A tanulási motivációt megvizsgálva a vizsgált 9 motívum (szülői szeretet, identifikáció, affiliáció, independencia, kompetencia, érdeklődés, lelkiismeret, rendszükséglet, felelősség) értékei a „válogatott” osztályokban valamivel magasabbak mindhárom mérés alkalmával, mint a „normál” osztályokban, s ezek csökkennek az idő múlásával mindkét osztálytípusban (lásd disszertáció melléklet 6/a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i 3. táblázat). A „normál” osztályok tanulói valamelyest magasabb aggodalom értéket mutatnak mindhárom mérés alkalmával (lásd disszertáció melléklet 8/b 3. táblázat), mint a „válogatott” osztályok tanulói. Több nyitott kérdésre választ adhatna a tanulók énképének vizsgálata a kétféle osztálytípusban.

In Hungary the talent development in schools started to improve considerably from the second part of the 1980s. The relatively homogeneous groups, in other words ”selected” classes spread from the late 1980s in our country so as they advance the development of abilities and characteristics of children seeming talented and raised to a higher level by dealing with them in special frameworks as out of school activities. The problems rooted in the talent care work of the “selected” classes to be remedied, from the turn of the millennium not only in the literature of pedagogy but also in school practice a view spread that in the course of developing work the talented student shall stay in a natural organizational form, random heterogeneous groups, in the so-called “normal” classes. However, the efficiency of the talent education in “normal” classes is often questioned in practice. Previously there were not any impact assessments based on background factors concerning talent care in the “normal” classes. I would like to make up for this deficiency with my paper. The main goal of our research is to contrast talented children’s development in ”normal” and ”selected” classes at primary school senior section. We tracked and revealed the change of the ”background factors” (general intellectual abilities, motives, learning strategies, anxiety) with the help of psychological impact assessments since these largely influenced the deployment of intellectual talent. We wished to compare our data obtained in the course of examination with the national and international research experiences we have. We have formulated our hypotheses in a separation based on the background factors (general intellectual abilities, learning motives, learning strategies, anxiety) it. We have examined the statements formulated in the hypotheses with the help of a statistical analysis of the data. To process our data as well as to respond our hypotheses we have used the procedures of SPSS 13.0 program (two-way analysis of variance, correlation calculation). During the four years – from the fifth to the end of the eighth classes – we have examined the change of the general intellectual abilities and other background factors (motivation, learning strategies, and anxiety) in the “normal” classes of six settlements. Our examination methods were applying the Raven Standard Progressive Matrix, Kozéki-Entwistle’s learning motivation questionnaire, Kozéki-Entwistle’s learning orientation questionnaire and Spielberger’s anxiety examination at the beginning and at the end of the fifth class, and at the end of the eighth class. Based on a previous similar examination László Balogh gave us the data concerning the “selected” classes in order to use them to compare the results. The data of the two samples: altogether 317 students took part in “normal” classes on the occasion of the first assessment. The number of the participants in the examination decreased to 299 at the second assessment and to 211 at the third assessment. Finally 189 students were left in the analyses concerning “normal” classes. 394, 351, and 420 students of the “selected” classes took part in the examination. 320 students were left for the final analysis whose data lines were complete. My results indicate on the whole that there is a difference in certain indicators between the two examined groups but in respect of the psychological factors examined there is no substantive difference in favour of the ”selected” classes in talent care as opposed to the work in the ”normal” classes. Examining the development of general intellectual abilities in the two kinds of class type we stated that at the beginning of the 5th class the students’ general intellectual abilities in ”selected” classes (see dissertation Annex 5/a Table 3) are already higher than their peers’ in ”normal” classes. The intellectual abilities of the students in the ”selected” classes developed most intensively in the long run than those of their peers in the ”normal” classes (see dissertation Figure 7) – it must be due to the higher level start. Both in the ”normal” and the ”selected” classes the difference of the students’ general intellectual abilities decreases between good and weaker students in the long run. The general intellectual abilities of the two genders showed similar development in the two types of classes. Examining learning motivation the values of the nine motives examined (parental affection, identification, affiliation, independence, competence, interest, conscience, need for order, responsibility) in the ”selected” classes are a bit higher in the case of all three measurements than in the ”normal” classes and decreased in the long run in both class types (see dissertation Annex 6/a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i Table 3). In the change of the three main elements - follower, interested, performing - of learning motives we also observed that in the ”selected” classes the values are relatively higher (see dissertation Annex 6/j, k, l, Table 3) on the occasion of all three measurements than in the ”normal” classes and decreased in the long run in both groups. At the ranking of the motivation elements there were changes in the position of seven elements between the 1st and 3rd assessments in the ”selected” classes while the ranking of seven elements changed as well in the ”normal” classes. So the motivation structure of learning was transformed significantly between the 5th and the 8th class and similar changes can be observed concerning content. According to the examination results done at learning orientation the order of the three main orientations remained unchanged during the examination period. We may confirm that the values of deep orientation are the highest ones (see dissertation Annex 7/a Table 3) followed by the organized orientation (see dissertation Annex 7/c Table 3) and the reproducing one (see dissertation Annex 7/b Table 3). The order is the same in the ”normal” and the ”selected” classes at the beginning of the 5th class, at the end of the 5th class and at the end of the 8th class. It should be mentioned that all three main orientations are weakening in the course of the assessments. There was a change in the position of six elements between the first assessment and the third one in the ”normal” classes while in five elements in the ”selected” classes which shows the strengthening of the deep and organized orientations on the whole. The value of the instrumental element is higher for students in the ”normal” classes (see dissertation Annex 7/d Table 3) than in the ”selected” classes at the beginning of the 5th class, at the end of the 5th class and at the end of the 8th class. These values decrease in both class types at the end of 5th class, and at the end of 8th class a risng of a little measure can be observed. When we examined the change of the students’ anxiety, we had that there is no difference between the two types of classes. The students of the ”normal” classes present somewhat higher values in the course of all the three assessments (see dissertation Annex 8/b Table 3) than the students of the ”selected” classes. Decreasing can be seen in both class types, that is more considerable in the ”normal” classes between the first and second measurements. On the other hand the second and third measurements have seen a more considerable anxiety level while this is of small rate in the ”normal” classes. The value of the emotional excitement are higher in the ”selected” classes during the three measurements (see dissertation Annex 8/c Table 3) than in the ”normal” classes. However this value decreases by the time in both class types. During the examinations several questions of content and methodology have been left open, answering them is beyond the frameworks of this paper. It would be worth examining the topic of socialization in more details, particularly family socialization. It could help in responding to our open questions beyond this if we could examine the teacher characteristics of the talented ones in the course of the talented children’s development. The examination of the students’ self-image in both classes could give an answer to some open questions. Additional researches are required to examine substantially why the students’ (including the talented ones) motivation for school work decreases at the age of 10-14; our method applied seemed to have a narrow capacity.
