Disszertációmban új kulcsot készítettem a Palearktiszból ismert púposlégy genuszokhoz. Megalkotásánál különösen fontosnak tartottam az egyszerű használhatóságot, így elsősorban könnyen felismerhető bélyegek alapján a 45 palearktikus genuszt összesen 54 kulcspontban tárgyaltam. A kulcshoz saját illusztrációkat készítettem, a könnyebb érhetőség kedvéért. Munkám során összegyűjtöttem és egységesítettem a palearktikus genuszok diagnózisát, így azok egymással könnyedén összevethetők. Az egyes genuszoknál feltüntettem a típusfajukat, ismert elterjedésüket, életmódjukat, a kapcsolódó fontos irodalmak listáját, a palearktikus fajaik számát, valamint az új genuszkulcs vonatkozó kulcspontját is. Összeállítottam a palearktikus púposlégyfajok aktualizált listáját is, amely alapján megállapítható, hogy a korábban ismert 215 fajhoz képest már 327 fajt ismerünk a régióból. Taxonómiai eredményeim között öt genusz taxonómiai vizsgálata szerepel (Phalacrotophora, Microselia, Peromitra, Abaristophora, Rhynchomicropteron). A vizsgált genuszokból négy tudományra új faj került elő (Abaristophora (Antipodiphora) hirticornis LENGYEL & PAPP sp. n.; Phalacrotophora nitidifrons LENGYEL, 2011; Ph. pappi LENGYEL, 2011; Rhynchomicropteron kuslitzkyi LENGYEL, 2011) köztük a Rhynchomicropteron genusz első palearktikus faja is. Négy további faj korábban ismeretlen vagy csak hiányosan ismert ivarát írtam le (Microselia rivierae, Peromitra cephalotes, Phalacrotophora pictofasciata, Ph. spectabilis). Doktori munkámhoz kapcsolódóan összesen 71 illusztrációt készítettem közülük 44 már publikációkban is megjelent (LENGYEL 2009a, 2009b, 2011a, 2011b). Faunisztikai eredményeim között hét magyar faunára (Diplonevra oldenbergi, Gymnophora perpropinqua, Peromitra agilis, Phalacrotophora pictofasciata, Ph. spectabilis, Pseudacteon brevicauda, P. fennicus) öt Izraelre (Gymnophora arcuata, Microselia rivierae, Metopina heselhausi, Peromitra cephalotes, P. erythrocera), három Észak-Koreára (Diplonevra peregrina, D. taigaensis, Peromitra agilis) és egy Kínára (Phalacrotophora fasciata).új faj szerepel, illetve néhány ritka faj újabb adata.

In my PhD a new key was improved for the genera known from Palearctic region. It was important that the key be as simple as possible to use, so easily recognizable characters were always used when possible. The 45 Palearctic genera were run to 54 couplets/triplets. The key is illustrated mainly with my own drawings. The diagnosis of each Palearctic genera were given and unified, to allow easy comparisons. Additional data were given to each genera: type species information, references to the important literature, number of the Palearctic species, and the serial number of the couplet/triplet in the new key to Palearctic genera. An up-to-date checklist of the species known from Palearctis is compiled without the species of the paraphyletic Megaselia. Comparing to the earlier known 215 species, now 327 species occur certainly in the Palearctic region. Five genera were studied taxonomically (Phalacrotophora, Microselia, Peromitra, Abaristophora, Rhynchomicropteron). Four species (Abaristophora (Antipodiphora) hirticornis LENGYEL & PAPP sp. n.; Phalacrotophora nitidifrons LENGYEL, 2011; Ph. pappi LENGYEL, 2011; Rhynchomicropteron kuslitzkyi LENGYEL, 2011) are described as new, among them the first Palearctic species in the genus Rhynchomicropteron. Previously unknown or superficially known males/females were described in case of other four species (- Microselia rivierae, Peromitra cephalotes, Phalacrotophora pictofasciata, Ph. spectabilis). 71 illustrations were made, with 44 already published (LENGYEL 2009a, 2009b, 2011a, 2011b). Faunistic results include seven species new to Hungary (Diplonevra oldenbergi, Gymnophora perpropinqua, Peromitra agilis, Phalacrotophora pictofasciata, Ph. spectabilis, Pseudacteon brevicauda, P. fennicus), five new to Israel (Gymnophora arcuata, Microselia rivierae, Metopina heselhausi, Peromitra cephalotes, P. erythrocera;), three new to North-Korea (Diplonevra peregrina, D. taigaensis, Peromitra agilis) and one new to China (Phalacrotophora fasciata). There are new data for rare species as well.
