Absztrakt

Violence in schools is well documented and is recognized as a growing problem all around the world. Over the last few years there has been a lot of interest in the problem of bullying, more especially in schools. The incidence of bullying has been investigated in many countries. A large numbers of surveys have been revealed that bullying is a widespread phenomenon. Bullying behaviour occurs very frequently and is an everyday occurrence. Most studies involved school-age children and adolescents. Studies have found that the majority of bullying episodes occur in the context of a peer group and bullying tends to peak in early adolescence. As a teacher I have also noticed that bullying is a severe and common problem among adolescents at an increasing rate year by year. Therefore, the main aim of the present thesis is to investigate the phenomenon of bullying in adolescent age. Since bullying occurs among peers, the focus is also on the peer relationships of children involved in bullying, such as friendships and social status.
