Absztrakt

This thesis will explore the ways of representation of the female body in feminist fiction of the postmodern era. It focuses on the novels of three British women novelists: Fay Weldon, Jeanette Winterson and Angela Carter, the way these authors represent the female body and interpret and reinterpret its meaning. Through their novels this paper, on the one hand, intends to present the notion of the body from women’s perspective. I will combine feminism and postmodernism to examine the meaning of the body and to contrast their interpretation with the female body’s patriarchal understanding.
