This Thesis explores the representation of African Americans in cinema fifty years after the civil rights movements. First, it investigates the patronizing type of movies which tend to use white supremacist themes. After that, the documentaries of the Civil Rights Movements are analyzed in a retrospective way. The next chapter revolves around the critical African Americans narratives. The last part compares two contemporary movies: Green Book and BlacKkKlansman.
