The aim of the paper is to support the claim that nativism and xenophobia were present in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico alike in the period between the 1850s and the 1930s. Observing immigration waves and their reception in the aforementioned countries proves that certain immigrant groups that were considered to be undesirable were received with discrimination, based on nativist grounds.
