It is about Condylar hyperplasia (CH) that is an uncommon bone disorder which appears with the asymmetry in the growth of face due to hyperactivity in condyle of mandible which results in the greater bone volume in one condyle over the other. Generally, a deviation of chin towards the affected side is seen, an enlarged mandible with flatness of the unaffected part of the face and from dental point of view unilateral posterior open bite makes it possible to detect the condition. Its etiology is unknown it may be idiopathic, it typically comes from injury, infection, or radiation that happens during the growth phase. It is characterized by independent growth. Three forms of CH were discussed: type 1 was H.E. with growth horizontally; type 2 was H.H. with growth vertically; and form 3 was combining the above two. This divisional structure helps doctors to understand the nature of the pathology. Various treatment ways have also been discussed. Presence or absence of active bone development will determine the course of treatment. When there is active bone growth, condylectomy is frequently used, the only effective way to remove the growth center which is the source of the pathological growth. Orthodontics is used in conjunction with surgical procedures to treat malocclusions.
