dc.description.abstractThis literature review discusses the techniques used in dentistry to measure working lengths and the consequences of inaccurate measurements. The three main techniques compared are tactile sensation, radiographic imaging, and apex locators, with apex locators being deemed the most accurate. However, even with the most accurate technique, there can be challenges in measuring working length due to unique patient characteristics and technological limitations. The review highlights the importance of considering morphology-friendly and feasible approaches, such as cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and ongoing education to improve patient outcomes. Additionally, the working width parameter is connected to canal preparation and should be taken into account to avoid mechanical and anatomical problems caused by canal curvature and incorrect preparation. The objective of the review is to enhance clinical outcomes and contribute to innovation and mechanization in the field of medicine.
