dc.description.abstractDolgozatomban arra a kérdésre keresem a választ, hogy milyen volt az Újvilágba érkezett puritánok világképe, ideológiája, gondolkodásmódja és eszmeisége? Mindez megjelenik-e az amerikai forradalomban, hatással volt-e rá, és ha igen akkor milyen módon? Valóban igaz az a megállapítás, miszerint Amerika keresztény alapokon lett megalapítva vagy sem? Kutatásom során vizsgáltam az amerikai puritánok leszármazottjainak történelemszemléletét elsősorban abból az aspektusból, hogy miként tekintettek a forradalomra és a megalakuló Amerikai Egyesült Államok történelmi szerepét és fontosságát hogyan látták? Disszertációm földrajzi-politikai-vallási tere elsősorban Anglia illetve Új-Anglia és az angolszász puritanizmus. Fontosnak tartottam bemutatni napjaink vitáját ebben a témakörben és azt a „középutas megoldási kísérletet” mely kutatásom alapján a legközelebb áll hozzám. Disszertációm egyik legfontosabb részének tekintem azt a historiográfiai szakaszt, melyben igyekeztem bemutatni, hogy különböző korszakokban hogyan gondolkodtak a puritanizmus szerepéről az Amerikai Forradalomban illetve az oda vezető úton. Ebből is látható, hogy korunk vitája ebben a témakörben nem gyökértelen, hiszen az idők folyamán nagyon eltérően vélekedtek ebben a kérdésben a történetírók. Értekezésem időkerete felöleli az európai reformációt, az Angliában ebben az időszakban lezajlott vallási változásokat, a gyarmatok megalapításának korát egészen az Első Nagy Ébredési Mozgalmon át a forradalomig. Kutatásom egyik lényeges pontja az a megállapítás, miszerint a Nagy Ébredési Mozgalom ideológiai öröksége más formában ugyan, de komoly szerepet játszott a forradalomhoz vezető úton. Éppen ezért részletesen igyekeztem bemutatni azokat az okokat, melyek elvezettek a fentebb említett ébredési időszakhoz illetve annak európai gyökereit is törekedtem bemutatni. Az Ébredési Mozgalom – bár interkolóniálisnak tekinthető – történetét és hatásait elsősorban Új-Anglia területére korlátozva mutattam be tekintettel arra, hogy itt fejtette ki legnagyobb és legmélyebb hatását. Nagyon lényegesnek tartottam annak a három teológiai gondolatkörnek a vizsgálatát és bemutatását – szövetségi teológia, a puritánok különleges küldetéséről mint választott nép és Új Izraelről szóló tanítás és a millennizmus – mely hipotézisem szerint a leginkább hatott az Újvilágba érkezőkre és bizonyos átalakulással de végigkísérte a gyarmatok történelmét a forradalomig. Értekezésem végén a teista-racionalista gondolkodás és eszmerendszer kialakulásával és közéleti szereplőkre gyakorolt hatásával foglalkozom. Úgy vélem, hogy ez a gondolkodásmód képes volt egy platformon tartani a korszak felvilágosult gondolkodóit és ismert igehirdetőit, lelkészeit is segítvén őket a közös ellenség elleni harcban és az új nemzet megalapításában. The present dissertation focuses on the worldview, ideology, mentality and idealism of the Puritans when they came to the New World. Furthermore the thesis discusses whether the said factors influenced the American Revolution and if so, which way. Whether America was really founded on Christian ground or not? During the research the view of history of the Puritan’s descendants with a special emphasis on how they regarded the Revolution, the historical role and importance of the constituting United States of America were studied. The geographical, political and religious spheres of the dissertation are England, New England and the Anglo Saxon Puritanism. It is necessary to review the contemporary debate on that issue and the “golden mean approach” which is close to that one applied in the dissertation. The historiographical part which concentrates on the role of the Puritanism in the American Revolution and its antecedentscan be considered as the most crucial part of the thesis. Following this it can be seen that the recent debate on that subject is not groundless, moreover the historical interpretations of the said issue largely differs from each other. The time frame of the dissertation includes the European Reformation, the religious transformation took place in England, foundation of the colonies, the era of the First Great Awakening and the Revolution. According to one of the essential points of the thesis, the ideological legacy of the First Great Awakening in other way but had a significant impact on the road to the American Revolution. That is why the origins and the European roots of the said awakening movement were studied as well. Incredibly important to examine and review three theological ideas, approaches – Covenant theology; doctrine of the special mission of the Puritans as the chosen people; Millennialism - which according to my hypothesis had ultimate influence on the new settlers of the New World and with few changes but affected the history of the colonies and the Revolution. The last part of the dissertation deals with the emergence of the theistic rationalist thinking and ideology as well as the impact of these factors on the public figures. One can conclude that the said idea, way of thinking could keep the enlightened philosophers and well known preachers and pastors in the same direction and helped them in the fight against the common enemy and establishing the new nation.hu_HU
