The study investigated the effects of de novo anti-HLA donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) on kidney transplant recipients. Twenty-one patients with DSAs and nineteen without were observed, aiming to understand how DSAs might cause endothelial damage and potentially lead to increased blood clotting. Blood samples from both groups were analyzed for markers like CRP, von Willebrand factor antigen, soluble E selectin, and thrombin generation. The research sought to uncover whether DSAs play a role in triggering endothelial injury and provoking hypercoagulability by examining thrombin production and related clotting parameters in these transplant patients.
