Americans have a unique and complex electoral system. The President of the United States is elected by the political body what is known as the Electoral College. The Electoral College system has been the subject to an ongoing debate and criticism for years. Some argue that it is a necessary system, however, the arguments are usually made against the institution. There have been a number of proposals to reform or abolish the Electoral College but none of them has been passed by the Congress. My thesis proposes to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the American Electoral College and attempts to offer an evaluation of the institution.
