The thesis emphasizes the importance of establishing an effective and balanced occlusion in treating patients wearing removable total or partial dentures. The various techniques discussed in the paper, including Gothic arch tracing, chin-point guidance, bimanual or bilateral manipulation, leaf gauge, and Lucia jig, can be used to determine the condylar location in CR. The wax rims method is more suitable for both the operator and the patient, while the Gothic arch method is more skill sensitive and requires longer chair-side time for both the dentist and the patient. Dentists should be knowledgeable about the advantages and disadvantages of each technique and combine more than one technique to minimize the limits of each unique method. Ultimately, maintaining an effective and balanced occlusion is critical to avoid unbalanced occlusal loads that might damage the supporting tissues and make the dentures unstable.
