Absztrakt

The World Health Organization has named “Stress” as the “Health Epidemic of the 21st Century”and the effect of stress on our emotional and physical health can be devastating. (FINK, 2017:1). The research methodology used was a non-experimental, descriptive, quantitative research design to assess the level of stress among International Students in the University of Debrecen, Hungary. The Sampling technique used was stratified random sampling,374 respondents was obtained using Slovin's formula, data was collected using both face-to-face and online basis and was presented in frequency counts and percentages, Simple linear and multiple regression was used as the method of data analysis. The findings revealed personal factors, academic factors, psychological/mental health and environmental factors were the contributing factors/causes of stress. There are multiple physical, psychological, behavioral, cognitive and social effects or consequences of stress which can be managed by physical techniques, cognitive techniques, environmental techniques and spiritual/religious techniques were the stress management techniques among students in the University of Debrecen, Hungary. It can be concluded that international students encounter stress which has a devastating effect on them and management techniques is dependent on what works for an individual.
