Cancer, unfortunately, remains one of the most well-known and still unresolved medical problems. One of the treatment approaches for this disease is chemotherapy. A further strategy within this field involves reducing iron concentration in tumors, which can lead to cancer cell death. Our research group is engaged in the development of various hypoxia-activated compounds that may potentially serve as highly effective therapeutic agents. Based on previous studies, a ligand was selected and investigated in terms of its iron-binding strength in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this compound as a potential anticancer drug.
