dc.description.abstract"Aspergillus niger as an Industrial Platform Organism for Improved Biofuel Production," explores the potential of Aspergillus niger in biofuel production, emphasizing its adaptability, enzyme production, and industrial applications. It begins by discussing the urgent need for alternative energy sources due to climate change and the depletion of fossil fuels, positioning A. niger as a viable candidate for large-scale biofuel production. The study traces the organism’s historical classification, morphology, and industrial significance, highlighting its ability to secrete a variety of enzymes essential for industrial applications. It examines how A. niger is widely used in enzyme production for industries such as food and beverages, textiles, detergents, and pharmaceuticals, demonstrating its versatility and economic importance. The thesis further investigates how A. niger plays a crucial role in biofuel production by efficiently breaking down lignocellulosic biomass into fermentable sugars, facilitating bioethanol and biobutanol production. It explores the environmental, biological, and economic impacts of utilizing A. niger in biofuel processes, discussing how it contributes to sustainability by reducing carbon emissions and supporting waste-to-energy initiatives. Through process optimization and genetic engineering, the study emphasizes ways to improve enzyme production and biomass conversion efficiency, ultimately enhancing the feasibility of biofuel production at an industrial scale. The thesis concludes with a case study on bioethanol production from corn stover, demonstrating the economic benefits and cost reductions achieved through the application of A. niger, reinforcing its potential as a key player in the future of renewable energy.
