In this study, we screened different carbon sources by identifying carbohydrates that can effectively promote the growth of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus NCAIM B.01725 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum NCAIM B.02391 focusing on prebiotic-type ones. We found that L. rhamnosus and L. plantarum had different carbohydrate utilization specificity. After this, we isolated the extracellular proteinaceous compounds produced by L.rhamnosus and L. plantarum grown on different carbohydrates. And we characterized antifungal activity on different yeasts by evaluating the effects of proteinaceous compounds we isolated. The extracts show strain specificity on fungal inhibition ability : they can effectively inhibit the growth of two opportunistic pathogens: Issatchenkia orientalis and Kodamaea ohmeri, while they were neutral on two plant-associated yeasts : Candida stigmatis and Candida riodocensis.
