dc.description.abstractThis study aims to show how the simulation and implementation of an autonomous driving system could be developed, and investigates how different types of environmental factors could affect it during use. The similarities of the setup and testing methods that would be used in this project will be able to mimic the industrial setup of the autonomous vehicle manufacturers and show the working principle of an Adaptive Cruise Control system. Input signals are obtained using an ultrasonic sensor, a code will be uploaded using an Arduino microcontroller to control the output observed in a step motor. Adaptive Cruise Control system is the beginning stage of a journey into creating and developing better technology in the automobile industry and is only at level 2 of the J3016 taxonomy. My goal in researching this topic is to explain this technological journey and show how it could be improved to be more effective thereby resulting in alleviation of the faults plaguing the automotive industry.
