The objective of this study was to find out the seed germination and seedling emergence of stored species using Rumex species as a model. The Rumex Species were germinated in Petri dishes in two experiments in both room temperature and a controlled climate chamber for 3 weeks respectively. The controlled climate chamber experiment was done after the dormancy of some selected Rumex species seeds sets were broken through Scarification and hotwater. The experimental results indicated that stored seeds provide a possibility of preservation of species which are endangered or going into extinction and also those seeds that can be used for restorative purposes. Based on my experiment focused on Rumex species and from a conservation point of view, it seems to be good to replace herbarium species frequently because herbarium stored for longer than ten years would not yield the expected results.
