| dc.description.abstract | This thesis presents the design and development of Upper Echelon, a full-stack web platform aimed at evaluating and improving cognitive performance through interactive online tests. Built using the MERN stack, the system integrates a secure user authentication layer, dynamic test logic, and persistent data storage to track individual cognitive metrics such as reaction time, working memory, and sequential recall. The platform includes multiple scientifically-informed cognitive tasks and an IQ-style assessment, allowing users to monitor progress over time. A leaderboard system, profile dashboard, and blog-based community feature were implemented to enhance engagement and encourage consistent cognitive practice. Theoretical foundations draw from neuroscience and psychological research, highlighting the role of repetitive cognitive stimulus in improving memory and neuroplasticity. The final product demonstrates both practical software engineering competence and a meaningful contribution to digital cognition-assessment tools. | |
