This research work focuses on the method development of economical and less onerous measurement of phosphorus in sunflower oils using ICP-OES. It is pertinent to have a method that will effectively control and assess the quality and safety of sunflower oil taken to the market from the industry for consumption by the consumers. Phosphorus though, an essential element in the body, when it is present in excess amount can become toxic to the human health and cause adverse effects. The microwave digestion and dilution using kerosene methods were adopted in this analysis for the sample preparation procedure. Among the three methods used in this research work to measure phosphorus in the oil sample, the diluted sample with only argon gas nebulization would be a suitable technique if further optimization steps were carried out since the method is less laborious and more economical than treating the samples prior to the analysis.hu_HU
