This thesis explores Fe(III) coordination with six newly synthesized ambidentate ligands from hydroxypyridinone (DHP). These ligands - 2ImEtHpH, 4ImEtHpH, 2ImPropHpH, 4ImPropHpH, 2ImButHpH, and 4ImButHpH - combine a DHP core with an imidazole group via alkyl linkers of varying lengths. The study aimed to assess how substitution site and chain length affect ligand basicity, Fe(III)-binding ability, and spectroscopic signatures of the complexes.
