Absztrakt

The primary focus of this thesis research paper is to examine the critical realm of flight safety by investigating the underlying psychological factors contributing to pilot error, a significant precursor to aircraft accidents. Using a methodological, comprehensive analysis of data, through incident reports, scientific peer-reviewed papers, and psychological studies, this research aims to identify the root causes of such errors. Critical elements of psychological factors, such as stress, fatigue, decision-making processes, cognitive biases, and addiction, will be studied and put in the context of the accident report in such a way that the interplay between the psychological variables and pilot performance can be noticed. After the analysis, this paper proposes a series of logically sound solutions aimed at mitigating the identified risks. These solutions encompass targeted training programs and taking care of well-being and accepting facts about attitudes and personality, as well as finding ways to improve. Furthermore, this paper advocates for a proactive approach to pilot mental health and well-being and provides ways to address stressors and mitigate their impact on performance, consequently increasing flight safety.
