Design and Development of a Price Monitoring and AI-Powered Shopping and Trip Planner

Abstract

This thesis presents the design and development of a web based price monitoring and AI powered shopping and trip planner that helps users track product prices, receive shopping advice, and generate structured travel plans within a single platform. The project fixes the problem of existing consumer tools, which often separate price comparison, trip planning instead of combining them into one intelligent system. The application shows how modern web technologies and AI can be integrated into a practical, user-focused solution. A central contribution of the work is the use of Gemini’s structured JSON output to generate reliable, typed responses that can be directly rendered in the user interface, especially for trip itineraries and AI-assisted recommendations. The system also includes price history visualization along with conversational AI features that supports future expansion. Overall, the thesis shows how a modern and AI-powered consumer platform can be developed as a viable product with strong potential for further improvement.
