dc.description.abstractThe aim of this thesis project is to provide a general overview of the subject of stress physiology in plants and the role of melatonin in mitigation of negative responses during a number of stressful events. The diploma thesis focuses primarily on the scientific literature produced during the last decade in the studied field. Special attention is given to the pathway of melatonin formation and its mode of action as a potential antioxidant compound in plants.
