dc.description.abstractThe two films I have chosen (Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) and I Live in Fear (1955)) bring up several issues such as the contrast of love and death, inapprehension, troubled past and present, inability to fully reconstruct the past and nuclear threat of the 20th century. These two movies are the works of high-impact directors, namely Akira Kurosawa and Alain Resnais. Their films are thought-provoking and impossible to forget. Resnais deals with trauma and its understanding, with mental traumatic experiences. Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) represents the inability to fully reconstruct past and the motif of forgetting with the help of stream of consciousness in a new form. Flashbacks make the ordinary stream of consciousness become a big chaos: past flows into the present, making the storyline non-linear.hu_HU
