Human Resources Cloud Application

Abstract

This project presents the design and development of a web-based Human Resources Management System aimed at streamlining HR operations within organizations. The application supports three distinct user roles: Administrator, Sub-Admin, and Employee, each with a dedicated interface and a specific set of permissions tailored to their responsibilities. The system offers a comprehensive set of features including daily task submission and monitoring, vacation and leave request management, certificate request handling, internal real-time messaging with support for direct and group conversations, project tracking, employee profile management, and a calendar view. The application was built using a modern full-stack architecture: React.js and Tailwind CSS on the frontend, Node.js and Express.js on the backend, and MySQL as the relational database. Cloud services from Amazon Web Services were integrated for user authentication via AWS Cognito, secure file storage via Amazon S3, and email notifications via AWS SES. The entire cloud infrastructure was provisioned using Terraform as Infrastructure as Code. Real-time communication was implemented through a WebSocket server, enabling instant message delivery between users. The project was developed in an Ubuntu Linux environment, with GitHub used for version control and Postman for API testing and validation.
