House is an essential part of human life. Every human being needs shelter to protect himself from wind, rainfall, and harm. Since the existence of man, house had been a pair to him, nevertheless, there are different types of houses in the universe. Building a house across various nations, peoples, traditions, doctrines, and cultures varies greatly. This is because many people have decided to include their styles of building from their ways of life. Over the years, there has been an increment in the quest for more knowledge on how to build an affordable house using local, available, and low-cost building materials worldwide. This scientific research work seeks to solve the problem of middle and most specifically low-income earners around the world. Notwithstanding, this thesis seeks to solve the issue of building affordable house case study of Maiduguri Borno State, Nigeria. Many researchers had demonstrated times without number that affordable houses can be built in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria and across the whole world using local, cheap, and available construction and building materials which is why this study is done to investigate affordable house in a rural area, case study in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The researcher took a random survey across the region of areas to see the nature of housing styles, traditional and cultural considerations, materials used in building houses, problems, and possible solutions of affordable rural housing. The findings proves that an affordable house can be built in a rural house in Maiduguri Borno state, Nigeria provided that all the possible solutions of the problems faced by rural houses in study area are tackled and put into consideration during building construction and that local cheap and available building materials are purchased and utilized during such project.
