Prevention of Tobacco Smoking at Health Policy Level and its Impact on the Smoking Prevalence and Health of Population in Hungary

Tobacco smoking is an important public health issue existing in all parts of the world and especially in Hungary where the highest levels of tobacco smoking prevalence have been existed. This review focused on the burden of disease in Europe and in Hungary as well as the health policy actions taken against tobacco smoking in Europe and in Hungary, then about the impact of those policies. The present study seeks to review and show findings from previously published studies analysing the measures were taken as a response for tobacco prevalence both worldwide and in Hungary at health policy level towards reducing the consumption of tobacco. Additionally, it explains the latest achievements of what policy measures accomplished. It describes the efforts that the FCTC parties have taken to fight the tobacco epidemic.
