In this paper, I will introduce the phenomenon of superconductivity, its evolution from the moment of discovery until our days, and how they have been integrated into our modern society in areas like transportation, medicine, and most importantly, power systems. I will conclude by presenting the design of a resistive and inductive SFCL for grid protection.
