dc.description.abstractAs mainstream desktop operating systems like Windows and macOS has taken the majority of market, we will take a look at the other side instead - low user-base desktop operating systems, or non-mainstream desktop operating systems. We will first take a look at the definition and components of operating system. After that the market situation of operating system will be detailed and the mainstream operating system will be introduced. Then a list of non-mainstream operating systems will be picked and installed under the same machine. During the use of these operating systems, their basic functions will be inspect and record, so that the difference of these operating system and mainstream operating system can be seen. Finally, the potential problems and the reason why they are non-mainstream can be concluded.hu_HU
