Many implementations of web applications require a service layer between presen- tation and data storage layers. To be able to implement such layers, business logic should be analyzed to support all requirements of the consumer, suiting architectures must be designed and a plan of implementation should be executed. However, with the recent innovations in Computer Science, for example, networking speed and more storage space, such implementations of service layer architectures might fail to answer customer or business demands. If such systems are to be able to ful ll customer and technological requirements, the architectures should adapt to the current innovations. The purpose of this study is to lay out the de nitions and use case examples of existing service layer architectures, determine what do they provide in order to ful ll demands, where do they fail to do so and what are the advantages of each of them over the others. In this context, ful lling demands is the extent to the question of how much a well-de ned architecture for the requirements can run successfully in relation to the other types of architectures considered in the research. This research question will be answered by studying the materials published in the eld, implementation cases, and methodologies in industry, tools, and software used for analyzing and designing such systems. These studies will be subject to classi cation in regards to the relationships between their advantages, disadvantages or possible pitfalls. Based on these classi cations, results will be compared to each other in order to represent a reasonable answer to the given question.hu_HU
