Absztrakt
The desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) is a highly destructive migratory pest that threatens food security across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Its swarming behavior, triggered by favorable breeding conditions like rain and vegetation growth, can lead to massive infestations. Swarms can travel up to 150 km a day, consuming vast amounts of crops and vegetation. Research focuses on understanding their breeding patterns, migration, and swarm dynamics to improve early warning systems and control strategies.
