Enhancing Maintenance Responsiveness through the Development of an Industry 4.0-Enabled System in Smart Manufacturing

Abstract

This thesis presents the development of a real-time maintenance alert system based on Industry 4.0 principles. The solution aims to improve reaction times to unexpected production issues by providing timely notifications to maintenance staff. A shopfloor dashboard and a mobile interface were created to ensure quick and reliable alert delivery. Acknowledgment tracking enables transparency and supports the collection of useful maintenance data. Testing with realistic scenarios showed improved responsiveness compared to traditional methods. The work demonstrates that modern Andon-style alert systems can support more efficient maintenance operations and provide a foundation for future predictive capabilities.
