dc.description.abstractThis thesis explores the design and implementation of data-intensive music streaming platforms, comparing those where music is a sub-service (e.g., Apple Music) to those where it is the core focus (e.g., Spotify). It highlights how different business logics influence architecture choices for scalability and reliability. Despite technical excellence, user retention often depends on superior UI/UX design. The thesis outlines the creation of a Spotify clone, focusing on building a scalable, high-performance system, from defining requirements and data pipeline infrastructure to ensuring a quality user experience. Security, including JWT authentication and encryption, is prioritized, while careful scaling strategies balance performance and cost efficiency. The project emphasizes a least-privilege approach to avoid unnecessary strain, demonstrating key methodologies for developing a resilient music streaming platform.
