This thesis study the alkylation reaction of the O-pyclen (2) macrocycle with the bromine derivative containing the hydroxamate moiety. The obtained OPC1HA ligand was carried out for analytical characterisation. Based on the determination of the ligand’s protonation constants, 3 log KH values are higher than 6.0, so the basicity of OPC1HA exceeds from similar macrocyclic derivatives. Unfortunately the stability of the complex formed with Mn(II) ion is so low that in 1:1 = Mn(II) : OPC1HA ratio system the complexation in not completed in wide pH range. The analytical results show that the OPC1HA ligand is not suitable for binding Mn(II) ions and cannot be used as a contrast agent. However, the prepared OPC2HAOPMB ligand probably has been shown to act as a hexadentate ligand and may be suitable for Mn(II) complexation. In addition, both ligands may be useful for the binding of additional metal ions (Cu(II), Fe(II), Ga(III), Sc(III), Bi(III)) that can be used in diagnostics.
