| dc.description.abstract | The synthesis of the Oxytaampa ligand, essential for diagnostics, encountered challenges in incorporating a single picolinate pendant arm. Alkylation with methyl 6-formylpyridine-2-carboxylate yielded a modest 12% despite optimization attempts. The second route, using methyl-6-(chloromethyl) picolinate, formed disubstituted products, requiring adjustments for a small yield. Protective measures with Boc2O yielded a low 24.5%, retaining both compounds. The successful approach involved alkylation of a Boc-protected diamine with methyl-6-(bromomethyl)-picolinate, overcoming unexpected disubstituted product formation. This synthesis underscores intricacies in ligand design, emphasizing the need for meticulous optimization for potential diagnostic applications. Future work involves characterizing ligand and metal complexes if produced on a larger scale. | |
