Cell division in Schizosaccharomyces pombe is influenced by ace2 and its associated genes, including the target genes, eng1 and agn1. Since it has a cell cycle typical to most eukaryotes, Sch. pombe was used as a model organism for our study on cell division and septation. The strains of Sch. pombe used in this research were the wild type L-972, ace2Δ mutant, and the transformants “312” (expressing truncated Ace2 protein) and “WT” (expressing the whole Ace2 protein). The experimental steps included isolation of the total RNA, synthesis of cDNA through reverse transcription, performing a quantitative RT-PCR and analyzing the results.hu_HU
